Natasha Saelua, Ph.D., a researcher and evaluator at McREL International, provides project-based research services and capacity-building support to education stakeholders across the Pacific Region through McREL’s contract with the Institute of Education Sciences to operate the Regional Educational Laboratory for the Pacific Region. Additionally, she serves as an external evaluator for the Region 8 Comprehensive Center, which serves state and local education agencies in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, North Dekota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Prior to joining McREL, Dr. Saelua served as a lead researcher for Empowering Pacific Islander Communities, where she advanced efforts to build knowledge about Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities through research projects and partnerships with academic institutions. Additionally, as assistant director of reporting and analysis for the National Institute for Transformation and Equity within the Center for Postsecondary Research at IU, Dr. Saelua examined the impact of campus environments on academic outcomes and sense of belonging for diverse student populations and produced reports for institutions partnering in the Culturally Engaging Campus Environments (CECE) surveys. She earned both her bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degree in Asian American Studies from the University of California–Los Angeles (UCLA), and her doctorate in Higher Education from Indiana University.
